Volunteer Placement

United Way of Athens-Limestone County is always seeking passionate volunteers to make a difference in our community. Whether you're looking for a meaningful way to give back or want to use your skills to support a cause, we're here to help you find the perfect fit. Volunteers can serve directly with United Way or be connected to one of our partner agencies, ensuring your time and talents are put to the best use. Front Desk Volunteer Program

Individuals interested in volunteering regularly can join our front desk program. In this role, volunteers greet visitors, answer phones, and assist with mailing. Shifts are available Monday through Friday, either from 9 AM - Noon or Noon - 3 PM. A monthly calendar will be provided to remind volunteers of their scheduled times.

Youth Volunteer Program

The youth volunteer program provides students with short-term volunteer opportunities at United Way or with other community partners. Many participants volunteer through church groups or school organizations. The program offers a variety of activities to match the diverse needs of the agencies and the unique skills of the volunteers.

Week of Caring

The Week of Caring, hosted by United Way of Athens-Limestone County, unites volunteers and local businesses to complete projects that support families and organizations. Originally a single "Day of Caring," it has grown into a week-long event due to its positive impact. To submit a project, contact your United Way.

You must read and sign the United Way of Athens & Limestone County Code of Conduct before any placement is made.

Introduction: The mission of the United Way of Athens-Limestone County is to increase the organized capacity of people to care for one another.

A. Authorize the use of/ use for the benefit/advantage of any person, the name, the emblem, endorsement, services, or property of the United Way.

B. Accept/seek on behalf of yourself/ any other person, any financial advantage/gain of other than nominal value which may be offered because of the volunteer’s or paid staff’s affiliation with the United Way.

C. publicly utilize United Way in Connection with the promotion of partisan politics, religious matters, or positions on any issue not in conformity with the official position of the United Way.

D. Disclose confidential United Way information that is available solely because of the volunteer’s or paid staff member’s affiliation with the United Way to any person not authorized to receive such information or use to the disadvantage of the United Way any such confidential information, without the express authorization of the United Way.

E. Knowingly take any action or make any statement intended to influence the conduct of the United Way in such a way as to confer any financial benefit on any person, corporation, or entity in which the individual has a significant interest or affiliation.

F. Operate or act in any matter that is contrary to the best interest of the United Way.
