Education can make all the difference.

We believe that education turns walls into doors of opportunity.

Internship

Education is a United Way priority. Because of this, we offer internships for high school and college students. This program allows students to get career and volunteer experience, giving them an advantage when looking for jobs. Any student in need of an internship can contact the United Way office to schedule an interview.

Speaker’s Bureau

To promote career education, United Way established a Speaker’s Bureau. Our Speaker’s Bureau consists of professionals and recent graduates from a wide range of careers, all of whom are excited to share their insight and experience with a new generation. Members of our Speaker’s Bureau visit Career Days at local schools, where they offer students insight about their careers and the necessary steps to achieve that career. Through this program, students are able to see the many career options that lie ahead of them, helping to ensure they choose a career they love.

Educational Workshops

Education is the difference between open doors and walls when building a successful future. Studies show that individuals with education beyond high school earn significantly more and are self sustaining over the course of their lifetime. This is one of the reasons your United Way is committed to educational opportunities.

Stuff the Sleigh

Stuff the Sleigh is a program that provides books and school supplies to underprivileged children in our community. During the late fall, we begin collecting new and gently used books for children ages birth – 12 years, along with new school supplies. These donations will be added to the toy bags for families who sign up for Toys for Tots.
